How to Teach Any Middle School Science Topic with Distance-Learning Resources from Kesler Science

Kesler Science 5E's and Distance-Learning

The Kesler Science resources are extremely flexible and allow you to use them in the way that best serves your students and their learning environment.  

Below is one simple five-step method you can follow to use your Kesler Science 5E lesson materials for distance learning.

1. For the first step, look over the Teacher Directions and Activities for ideas about what you might be able to do as a recorded demo or assign as a video to get students engaged in the topic.  This will set the tone of the entire lesson.
2. Next, use a Station Lab to get students exploring the topic. There are single-student files for each station lab that can be attached to an assignment in your LMS so students can interact with their own copy.
   
   The station labs are completely student-led and do not require any previous knowledge of the topic.
3. Now use a 5E Presentation to further explain the topic to students. There are single-student files with Digital INBs embedded into them.  Like the Station Labs, they can be attached to an assignment for students to interact with their own copies.
   
   The 5E lessons can be completed independently, or the teacher could use the presentations to work with the students in real-time or record themselves teaching the lesson so that students can follow along.
4. Next, distribute the PDF of student choice projects to each student to elaborate on the topic and allow students flexibility in which project/s they choose.
5. Finally, use the included assessment file as a source of questions and images to build an evaluation in your LMS.
